Overview – Noetic Solutions

Noetic Solutions is a leading strategic management and knowledge consulting firm specialising in the business of government. We assist government departments and agencies as well as private organisations in their dealings with government. Noetic has extensive experience at all levels of government – Commonwealth, state/territory, and local.

We understand the way government departments and agencies work and think, and are able to empathise with our clients and help them contextualise and solve their challenges and problems. Most importantly, we deliver our clients with implementable solutions to their often complex, difficult and sensitive problems.

History

Noetic Solutions was the first of the Noetic Group’s five companies to be established. It was founded in October 2001 by Andrew Balmaks and Peter Murphy, who remain the company’s two owners and Principals.

Noetic began as a two-person operation based from one of the Principal's kitchen tables. Andrew and Peter used their experience as Officers in the Australian Army to win Noetic’s first piece of work, which involved writing a piece of doctrine for the Australian Army. Notably Noetic was the first company anywhere to propose the outsourcing of doctrine writing to the Australian Defence Force.

In late 2002 Noetic secured its first small piece of non-Defence work for the Australian Public Service Commission, and the number of new clients started growing slowly during 2003. A major piece of work for the company at that time was helping to establish the National Offshore Petroleum Safety Authority. In December 2004, the company moved into its own offices in Manuka, Canberra. As Noetic continued to build a reputation for quality work, our client list grew to include federal, state/territory and local government organisations as well as private companies. The company also undertook work in the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait and the Solomon Islands.

In 2006 Noetic was awarded 36th place in the BRW Fast 100. We have also won exporting awards in the Emerging Exporter and Small to Medium Services categories, in 2007 and 2008 respectively. Noetic was a Telstra Business Award finalist in the Panasonic Australia Medium Business award category in 2007, 2008 and 2011, and in the AMP Innovation award category in 2011.

In addition to the main office in Canberra Noetic Solutions currently has offices in Sydney, Brisbane and Darwin.
