Workshop Facilitation For The Minerals and Metals Group (MMG)

October 2009, Canberra

Noetic Group has recently completed a two day workshop facilitation for MMG in Townsville on 19-20 October 2009.  This workshop was attended by representatives from MMG, BHP Billiton, Xstrata Rio Tinto, Incitec Pivot, Kagara Ltd, NQM as well as Queensland Mines and Energy.

The aim of the workshop was to improve workplace safety through effective job safety analysis (JSA) which was discussed during the workshop.  All participants were given an overview of how the incident occurred and what lessons could be taken from the tragedy.  Over the course of the two days participants discussed and debated many aspects of JSA including who were the most appropriate personnel to develop them, hazard recognition and control measures, approval and review processes as well as what an effective JSA should look like.  The outcomes of the workshop will be forwarded to the Queensland Mines Inspectorate for their consideration and to assist the Inspectorate to develop a guidance note relating to JSAs.
